Some things that have occurred to me….

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Wouldn’t an all-knowing God speak to his LIVING prophet, telling him that things were going to get dicey in the future, and maybe they ought to reconsider that whole “blacks bear the mark of Cain and can’t hold the Priesthood” thingie?

Wouldn’t this LOVING God make sure that EVERYONE knew he loved all his creations and children equally?

If he really wanted his children to follow ONE SPECIFIC RELIGION, wouldn’t he give SAME SAID SPECIFIC RELIGION the proper info to keep the peeps happy?

I mean, surely this ALL KNOWING God, the same guy who created the world in seven days, and his mouthpiece, the prophet (whoever HAPPENED to be prophet at the time, of course) would have a little sit down and discuss possible repercussions of the civil rights movement, and the anger of the African American people at being treated as “lesser thans?”

And if this DIDN’T happen, which we all know it didn’t, then does God REALLY favor the Mormons over other religions?

Just wondering.

FYI, I’ve attached a link to a letter sent to George Romney, Mitt’s father, in which he was encouraged to step back from his civil rights activity and keep those darned “negroes” in their proper place. Kudos to George Romney for IGNORING this letter. If Mitt is half the man his father was, he’d make a pretty good president. Of course, HE ISN’T GOING TO GET ELECTED. There’s that whole pesky “Mormon” thing standing in his way.

The Mormon Church has an EXTREMELY racist past. This very sticky issue is one that you simply CAN’T ignore, and if you manage to, you are a “head in the sand” kinda Mormon. You just can’t get past it. What is wrong with Gladys Knight? Will someone please shake her? Or at least show her this letter….

LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley Dies

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

It has just been announced that LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley has died. As is usually the case, the information he was so close to death was withheld from the public, so this is a huge shock to many.

I offer my sincere (yes, sincere) condolences to his family, and those who feel the loss of his passing.

While not my FAVORITE person, he was still somebody’s father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and prophet, and thus, we know his passing will cause great distress.

Hinckley was 97 years old, and was suffering from cancer.

Godspeed.

Note: Before you Mormons decide to comment, and sling nastiness my way, please be aware that THOUSANDS of people read this blog. Your true colors will speak for themselves. I stand behind my comments. Will you stand behind yours? Once you put the comment there, it does not come off. I also initially wrote “we” in reference to the Trappees. Given the venom spewed by many, and personal attacks on some of those who commented here, I am changing it to make it clear it is MY post and my opinion.

This is a sincere wish of condolences over President Hinckley’s passing. His past actions are NOT recounted here. But it doesn’t mean they didn’t happen.

Additional Note: Based on the HUGE amount of traffic to this site, in the past three hours, I would guess there are THOUSANDS of faithful Mormons who are choosing NOT to comment or spew hatred. Kudos to them. I’m doing my best to keep up with the comments. Bear with me.

Real life or fiction? You decide…

This story is just so sad it makes me want to shake someone. Stormy is eying me right now with fear in his eyes. I will not shake the dog. I will not shake the dog.

A young Mormon mother was gunned down in the parking lot of her LDS Wardhouse in front of her family and ward members. The shooter was her husband. Apparently, he was having an affair, and she requested a separation, alimony and child support, and their house and furnishings.

“My neighbors and my ecclesiastical leader returned calls to me during a recent vacation and told me that my husband’s mistress was sleeping over at our house, parking her car outside and neither of them making an effort to hide it,” stated court documents filed in 4th District Court.

Her husband apparently did not feel that she had a RIGHT to kick him out, take their things, and move on. So he killed her.

Witnesses told police that David Ragsdale shot his wife multiple times in the head, back and torso. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder, a potential capital offense. David Ragsdale has not yet been charged with his wife’s murder.

To all those who claim my books weren’t realistic, here is a perfect example of how WRONG you are.

I know not all Mormons act this way. But many do. And the reasons behind their actions are the fascination for me.

Condolences to the family of the slain woman. Godspeed.

God’s Gym

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

It appears that Gold’s Gym in Provo has caved to the whining “My eyes, my eyes” babies aka BYU students, and agreed to filter out more “objectionable material.” Now the proposed protest is going to be a show of support for God’s Gym. Er, Gold’s Gym. You decide.

My pig is dirtier than your pig….

So, it appears the other Republican candidates for President do NOT like good old Mormon boy Mitt. He be garnering some ill will in spades, there.

And it makes one stop and wonder, “Hmmm. Why?”

TAMPA, Fla. — At the end of the Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire this month, when the Democrats joined the candidates on stage, Mitt Romney found himself momentarily alone as his counterparts mingled, looking around a bit stiffly for a companion.

The moment was emblematic of a broader reality that has helped shape the Republican contest and could take center stage again on Thursday at a debate in Florida. Within the small circle of contenders, Mr. Romney has become the most disliked.

In particular, I found quite interesting THIS quote from frontrunner John McCain.

“Never get into a wrestling match with a pig,” Senator John McCain said in New Hampshire this month after reporters asked him about Mr. Romney. “You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.”

That’s some serious homespun animosity there, folks.

So, I ask again, “Why?”

Could it have anything to do with the moral superiority Mormons wear around like a cloak?

Tonight, I overheard a young man–who, by the way has some very obvious emotional and mental problems–ask another co-worker if she was LDS. When she said yes, he explained he had been just about ready to go on his mission when he had some problems.

“But not worthiness ones,” he assured her.

Then he looked across at another co-worker and asked her, “Are you LDS?”

“Not active,” she said.

“Well, that’s okay,” he said, a smug little smile on his face.

Gee, thanks for the permission, ass wipe! What were those problems that kept you from going on your mission? That little incident with the AK-47 and the schoolyard make you a bad candidate for hearing the word no, a word missionaries hear more than any other?

My point here is that a young man who had some serious issues with mental health (one only has to look at him and talk to him to see it) still thinks it’s okay to believe HE is better than someone who isn’t LDS. Or to tell them, “Well, it’s okay,” that they aren’t LDS. Of COURSE it’s okay. We do NOT need your permission or kind benevolence.

But the problem is that this young man is not alone. It is a fairly widespread problem, and while the out-of-Utah Mormons would like you to believe it is a problem only among the Utah Mormons, the truth is, the entire belief system is set up to be exclusionary. The Mormons are all planning on looking down on the rest of us from their perch in the Celestial Kingdom. Oh, by the way, they can come and visit US. We just can’t go up to visit them. In the Mormon world, the elevator of all the non-Mormons does not go all the way to the top.

I personally feel like it’s the other way around. I believe I’ve mentioned HEAD! In! HAT! before.

Do evangelical Christians like Mike Huckabee have the same moral superiority complex? Dunno. But he doesn’t seem to be having the issues Romney is encountering.

Since Romney is NOT going to win, and I would state that is pretty obvious right about now, it can’t be jealousy or anger. He’s done SOMETHING, or acted in some way to make them all despise him.

So what is it? Any ideas?
