In 2007, it was revealed that not only is Utah the most depressed state in the nation, but we are also the most vain. The two do go hand in hand, I suppose. It’s depressing to not be beautiful and perfect and Stepford-like. Come on, you have to admit it’s true….

January 1, 2002, midnight. I was on a plane at SLC airport waiting for the plane to be deiced, for the second time, for the 50 minute flight home.
The crew was cranky, the passengers were cranky, there were only peanuts to bring in the new year…I was depressed.

You can add ’snobbish’ to the list. Just picked up my license plate the other day to go on my new car, and the rumors are true–it really DOES say “Life elevated”. In big letters, no less. It’s got to be the most self-congratulatory slogan ever. Yeah, so it’s supposed to refer to the mountains (they say), but really…
I prefer a simple “This is the place”. Then we have the lovely religious reference without sounding snobbish, and no one who hasn’t had a dose of Utah history will understand the past behind the phrase.

Oh, geez, is that what those plates say? I noticed a bunch of them, and thought maybe I took a wrong turn at Park City and ended up in a different state! Although Park City IS a different state, even if it’s not official.
Life Elevated? Good God. What’s next? “I WON’T see you in the Celestial Kingdom!” I was reading the story about how former Governor Mike Leavitt held “seminary” meetings before the day, and I can’t believe that ANYONE would believe that Mormons will separate Church and state, or that Mitt Romney is capable of it.
And that comment oughta get some tongues wagging.

I just bought a new winter vehicle the other day and they slammed them plates on it… I didnt even look at them LOL… Well they were put on a high riding jeep and i have been driving a car so I guess technically my life was elevated? but only in the winter, in the summer i become more grounded again =D
I am really not to suprised that Utah would be voted most depressed. I have many friends who are on or have been on some form of anti-depressants. My friends mothers always seem to have a healthy supply of anti-depressants too at their disposal :/

Yeah, the crazy state doesn’t know that it is sooo depressing even if it hit itself in the face. I moved away from it and I’ll never go back!!!!!

Depressed by what standards? Clinically diagnosed and treated people?
If you go by those numbers, you might as well look at the state with the highest rate of alcoholism, or child abuse, or drug use. In the rest of the world, depression just goes undiagnosed and treated with alcoholism, suicide, drug abuse, neglect, or downright crabinness.
